What is 1% for the Planet?

TravelTrac is a proud member of 1% for the Planet. Responsibility for protecting the environment is the bottom-line, and one that we all must share. TrekTrac has a committed environmental policy and will dedicate a minimum of 1% of gross revenues to key environmental groups.  The organizations we support are pre-approved by 1% for the Planet and these groups exist to raise global awareness and work to protect and ensure our continued enjoyment of a healthy planet.  There is no business to be done on a dead planet and we challenge our users and viewers to think globally and act locally to preserve our natural resources.  Visit www.onepercentfortheplanet.org to learn more.

What Can I Do?

TravelTrac is pleased to provide our trip sharing applications, TravelTrac Forums, and featured articles to you absolutely FREE OF CHARGE. We guarantee a SPAM FREE environment for you to share your leisure and adventure travels.  We do not sell our mailing lists; we do not charge you for services rendered; and, we believe we offer the best services available on the Internet for keeping in contact with Friends and Family while enjoying your adventures at home and abroad.  If at some point you elect to do business with any of the key advertisers linked to TrekTrac we ask that you make your purchases by hyperlinking from ads in our domain.  This will enable us to offset costs related to supporting this site and we will donate a minimum of 1% of gross proceeds from our commissions on the goods and services you purchase from key advertisers.  And you can feel good about yourself in the process.  We also ask you to be aware of the environment around you.  Leave a clean wake, campground, trail, or highway and provide the next visitor with a chance to experience the beauty of the natural environment you've just visited.  Share that travel destination with others via TravelTrac Forums and help create the best user generated on-line Field Guide to Planet Earth.  Now go buy that gadget or gear you can't live without and feel good about it.  You'll be helping to protect our planet for future generations. And if your so motivated please take an active interest in becoming directly involved with the following groups we sponsor:.

Organizations Worth Considering

The following organizations are the focus of TrekTrac's charitable efforts for 2008:

National Fish & Wildlife Foundation - www.nfwf.org Through its mission and vision, the Foundation is committed to achieving measurable outcomes and will use the best science available to focus its efforts and regularly define, evaluate and reevaluate where and how to makes its conservation investments. With this clear “stake in the ground,” the Foundation intends to put itself at the forefront of a movement to drive accountability for sustainable conservation results.

World Wildlife Fund - www.worldwildlife.org For more than 45 years, WWF has been protecting the future of nature. The largest multinational conservation organization in the world, WWF works in 100 countries and is supported by 1.2 million members in the United States and close to 5 million globally. WWF's unique way of working combines global reach with a foundation in science, involves action at every level from local to global, and ensures the delivery of innovative solutions that meet the needs of both people and nature.

WaterAid - www.wateraid.org  A nonprofit organization dedicated to the vision of a world where everyone has access to safe water and sanitation. WaterAid enables the world’s poorest people to gain access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene education. These basic human rights underpin health, education and livelihoods and form the first, essential step in overcoming poverty. WaterAid works with local partners, who understand local issues, and provide them with the skills and support to help communities set up and manage practical and sustainable projects that meet their real water needs.
